If you are familiar with the Toronto rave scene then you have most likely heard the name, Jonathan Rosa. A resident of CODA Toronto, Rosa has had the opportunity to open for acts like Maceo Plex, Lee Foss, Thugfucker and more over the past few years. With this experience, Jonathan is taking the next step in his career as a producer by releasing tracks like No Sleep and Terror.
Not only is he working on music, but soon he’ll be playing at festivals like SXM Festival and the Toronto summer series Electric Island. We caught up with Jonathan Rosa to learn a little more about him before he headlines our annual underground event.

Bassdrop: What’s the story behind Jonathan Rosa?
Toronto DJ, producer, and a resident at CODA and The Comfort Zone. I have tracks on Suara, Snatch and Get Physical!
BD: For those out there not familiar with your music, please describe your style?
I range from deep house to techno (depending on the gig/ mix)!
BD: What artists do you look up to? What are some of your biggest sources of inspiration?
I consider Nathan Barato a mentor, really amazing DJ, producer and human! Huge inspiration!
BD: So you’re from Toronto, describe your favorite things about the city?
I live in the Queen West suburb of Toronto, love everything about the city, the music, retail, bars, nightlife and my people!
BD: Are there any upcoming projects that we can know about?
My next release is on Get Physical (March 13th), track is called “Terror” check it!
BD: Most memorable moment to date?
Playing a 3-hour opening set for Maceo Plex at CODA, crazy night.
Bassdrop: When you aren’t DJing, what do you do in your spare time?
“Spare time” is rare these days, but I’m passionate about anything creative, at the moment obsessed with Photoshop.
Life of a DJ? No sleep
Drink? Purple G2 Gatorade lmao
