If you’re a music lover, you surely know that in March Miami becomes the world capital of electronic music, with Miami Music Week: the hottest weeklong event in Florida and around the country. This year the music week will take place from 20th to 25th March. Each year, hundreds of thousands of people come to the city to dance in almost 300 events: the most important, Ultra Music Festival, is a three-day outdoor concert that occurs on the weekend of the music week and this year will turn 20.
How Was It Born?
Before MMW, there was Winter Music Conference. WMC, established in 1985 and active for 32nd consecutive years, is the largest longstanding EDM industry gathering of its kind in the world. During WMC, music enthusiasts, artists, DJ’s and industry delegates from 70 countries converge on Miami Beach for a concentrated schedule of seminars and workshops.
Miami Music Week has been formed in 2011, when Winter Music Conference split up and changed its dates from the 3rd week of March to the 1st week, meanwhile Ultra decided to continue on the 3rd week. This resulted in two different types of events: WMC for the music industry (panel and IDMAs), meanwhile Miami Music Week as the “fun week” (performance and parties).
What To Expect in 2018?
This year, unfortunately, there has been no official announcement about the WMC.
