It’s crazy because it feels like time flown by and now we’re only a few days away before we enter 2018!

We wanted to do a 2017 recap of everything of importance, funny and relevant from this past year, including our rebrand from Bassdrop to Nightenjin, new designs, collabs, events, live streams and everything else we were involved within 2017. Not only that but all our favorite things that happened in the music industry.

Take a look below as we go through the year 2017 month by month.

Bassdrop Underground 3.0 – March 11: Bassdrop hosted an event at X After Hours in Windsor, Ontario. Headlined by Toronto born DJ/producer, Jonathan Rosa with support from Bush League, Stay Woke and Luca Primorac.

BassdropTV S1EP2 – April 9: Livestream at Blanche in Windsor with TWINNS, Chris James, Pigpen & R3KT!

BassdropTV S1EP3 – April 30: Livestream in Detroit at The Grasshopper Underground with special guests Alley Kay, Baxley Bang, FOOD FIGHT, Ghita Sisters & Players Club.

Fyre Festival – April/May: Organized by Fyre Media founder Billy McFarland and rapper Ja Rule. Fyre Festival was advertised as a very luxurious music festival scheduled to take place on the island of Great Exuma in the Bahamas over two weekends in April and May 2017. It had been promoted by prominent Instagramers including Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski.

Tickets for the event were going for $1,500, and VIP packages that included airfare and luxury tent accommodations for US$12,000. Not long after festival goers arrived, the festival was cancelled. It turned out to be a giant scam where people spent thousands of dollars only to arrive at an unfinished venue with tents instead of villas, porta-potties, lack food and water.

The Rebrand – May 4: We officially rebranded from Bassdrop to Nightenjin – A brand driven by the diverse culture of music with bold and iconic designs inspired by motorsports.

Electric Elements – May 21-22: Wasaga Beach is home to the largest freshwater beach in the entire world. It hosts some of the biggest names in EDM and provides party-goers from across Canada with sunshine, beaches, and electronic music. Electric Elements is the annual May 2-4 Festival which is a celebration of life, music, and a brand new summer season. Headliners included: Carnage, Knife party, KSHMR, R3HAB, Borgeous, Quintino, Will Sparks, Dyro and more.

Ever After Music Festival – June 2-4: With two prior successful years, EA returned for its third annual event at Bingemans Park in Kitchener, Ontario. When you finally make it through the line and security, once you enter through the front gates it feels like you’re stepping into a trippy fantasy world; 50+ acts on 3 different stages(The Oculus Realm, Excalibur, and The Ontario Stage) over 30 acres to explore, camping, water park, midway with rides and plenty of fun games/activities.

It’s an experience that will entice you with a plethora of sounds, stunning visuals that will blow your mind and high-class performances. Artists included: Black Tiger Sex Machine, Trampa, Crankdat, Cosella, Destructo, Nebbra, Daniel Portman, Dion Timmer, YOOKIE, Habstrakt and more.

Gridlife – June 9-11: Gridlife Midwest is located in South Haven, Michigan. This was another awesome first festival experience for Nightenjin and the collab tee ended up selling out completely during the festival! The purpose of Gridlife is to merge multiple music and automotive cultures by bringing people together. Three awesome days filled with music, motorsports and automotive passion.

The lineup consisted of artists like Manic Focus, Keys N Krates, AutoErotique, Grandtheft, Stooki Sound, GettoBlaster and many more. Plus drivers like Chairslayer, Vaughn Gittin Jr, Ryan Tuerck, Dai Yoshihara and more.

Valhalla Sound Circus – July 13-17: Nightenjin’s first time at Valhalla and we absolutely loved it; not to mention even did a limited edition 17’ collab tee. This little slice of paradise is in Saint-Andre-Avellin, Quebec, during the summer time. It’s a 4-day music festival that’s BYOB and you get to camp in a magical forest with all the greatest people, talent and 3 stages with literally all the filthy bass music someone could ever ask for.

Artists included: Code: Pandorum, JPhelpz, Phace, Tsuruda, Yheti, Izzy Vadim, Khiva, Truth, Thelem, Monxx and more.

Holy Ship! – August 2: Just this past summer, the shipfam community was hit with a bombshell when the rumors were confirmed true and Gary Richards aka Destructo had announced publicly that his relationship with Live Nation had ended and come 2018, he would no longer attend, curate or be involved with any Hard events.

Richards founded HARD Events and spent 10 years molding his unique brand of dance concerts. In 2012, Live Nation acquired HARD Events but kept Richards on until his five-year contract was up and not renewed. Loyal shippers took to social media with the hashtag #NoGaryNoShip and even Boys Noize shared a petition with his fans on Twitter to urge LN to add him to the 2018 lineup as it wouldn’t be the same.

Nightenjin Holy Boat! – August 13: A cool boat party that took place in Windsor, Ontario aboard the Macassa Bay which sailed across the Detroit River. Featuring a stacked lineup consisting of Sonya Alvarez, Nati, Alley Kay, Baxley Bang and R3KT.

Shambhala – August 11-14: For the 20th Year Anniversary, tickets sold out in less than 24 hours for the first time ever.

Elektricity Patio Takeover – September 1: A night where Drezo was headlining the main room inside of Elektricity, the Nightenjin team got to curate and take over the patio for the night with a bass-heavy line up featuring N8, R3KT and Defiant.

Record Label – September 11: The launch of Nightenjin Records with the first official release titled ‘So Extra’ by Bush League. E-mail us your tracks to demo@Nightenjin.com

Lost lands – September 29-October 1: This was LL’s very first year; A 3-day music festival that took place in Legend Valley, Ohio created and curated by Excision himself. Featuring the Paradox at the main stage, camping, dinosaurs and 500,000 watts of nothing but bass!

Deadmau5, Szechuan Sauce and Chicken Nuggets – October 8: During the Thanksgiving long weekend , Deadmau5 played as his alias Test Pilot at Rebel nightclub in Toronto along with label mate, ATTLAS. What made this night memorable is he took the opportunity to share his 1.8 litre of Rick and Morty inspired Szechuan sauce (worth $15,000) with his fans and they had a massive nugget party.

NightenjinTV S1EP5 – November 23: A Thanksgiving livestream at The Grasshopper Underground with special guests Madly, Alley Kay, R3KT and City Air Detroit DJs.

Pushers Fashion Show – December 15: Pushers Collective invited Nightenjin to be part of their 4th annual fashion show and we did not disappoint by showcasing some of our designs from this past summer.

The along the way we interviewed some amazing young artists such as Twinns, Jonathan Rosa, Tengraphs, Synoid, Anakim, Nati, Rettchit and more.

Plus we got to collab with Warden and Blaqout on some limited edition shirts.
